ESU Essay / Drawing Competition 2010
Rules of the Competition
- The competition is open to all students in Mauritius.
- Essays must be given a title and must be written in English on an A4 size paper.
- Use A3 size paper for drawings.
- Only one entry per participant will be accepted.
- All entries must be submitted through a school or college.
- Name of participant should NOT appear on the essay or drawing. Instead, participants should submit their full names, address, phone number, word count (for essays), age group and name of their school or college on a separate sheet of paper. A copy of birth certificate should be sent together with their entries.
- Deadline for entries to reach the ESU is Friday 16th July 2010.
- Participants should calculate the age they will be on Friday 16th July 2010 and select corresponding age group.
- Participants are expected to show a competent command of English as a written language. This includes a good standard of spelling and punctuation, neat presentation and clear handwriting or word processing.
- Participants must produce their own work. Material should not be copied or plagiarized from another source.
- Best entries will be rewarded in December 2010 which marks the bi-centenary of the arrival of the British in Mauritius. All participants will receive a participation certificate.
- All entries become the property of the English-Speaking Union with the rights to display or publish. Decision of the jury will be final.
