The Youth Commonwealth Competition
The Young Commonwealth Competition : - MARCH 2010
In Mauritius , the Commonwealth Essay Competition, recently renamed as “ The Young Commonwealth Competition ” is organized jointly by the Royal Commonwealth Society and the ESU.
The activities captured by this competition have been extended and now comprise (a) an Essay Competition (b) the Commonwealth Vision Awards for young film makers and, (c) the Commonwealth Photographic Awards to attract young photographers.
It is hoped that this competition will continue to act as an excellent educational project that offers thousands of young people across the Commonwealth a space within which they can (i) reflect upon their worlds (ii) articulate their thoughts and (iii) network.
In 2009, 55 participants took part in the essay competition.
There are four categories of participants :
- (i) Under 12
- (ii) 12 to 13 years
- (iii)14 to 15 years
- (iv) 16 to 18 years.
