Sir Victor Glover

Sir Victor Glover, Kt, GOSK, is the Patron of the English-Speaking Union of Mauritius and was nominated Chairman Emeritius in 2008. He was the President of the ESU from 1993 to 2007.

Sir Victor is a Senior Legal Consultant and the Attorney General Consultant in Legislative Drafting. He was called to the Bar in 1957 at the Middle Temple of which he is an Honorary Benchor. During his long professional career he held several posts at the Attorney General's Office from 1962 to 1976 and served as a Judge of the Supreme Court for 20 years, the last six of which as Chief Justice. He acted as Governor-General on four occasions between 1988 and 1991 and once as President of the Republic in 1992. He was President of the Tertiary Education Commission from 1988 to 1997. For several years he was Co-Editor of the Mauritius Reports and is an Honorary Professor of Law at the University of Mauritius .
